Bio
Matt and Joanna Black have been performing and leading worship together since before they married in 2000. Their musical style is a heartfelt blend of contemporary Christian, Americana, folk, and acoustic pop. They are known for their accessible arrangements, rich harmonies, and catchy melodies. Now they have expanded their duo and are being joined by two very special additions-their daughter’s Myra and Cara-forming “Matt and Joanna Black and the Family Band”. All together the message of their music is a unique celebration of family and the hope that comes through faith in Jesus.
Discography and Projects
Matt and Joanna have released three albums, “Sweet Communion” (2003), “Unless the Lord” (2005), and “Antiques Pt. 1” (2010). Additionally, they’ve shared digital singles such as-”Go Tell It On The Mountain” (2019), “You Have Prepared A Place” (2020), and “As We Go” (2020). In 2013 Matt recorded and co-produced, “Beloved”, a duet EP featuring singer-songwriter Lyndsay Taylor and Joanna.
In 2018 they helped create the album “Mwen Sove” (I’m Saved) with “LAVI” (Life) a Haitian Pop-Gospel music group formed to spread the gospel message through Haiti in a style that connects with the modern music culture there. This recording project led to the start of a school of music and worship Art and Word for Transformation in Haiti that is being directed by the co-producer of Mwen Sove, Ilbatch Deshommes.
